For Benny

The shittiest article in video-game-related journalism I have ever read? Possibly. But I don't really think it's necessary to deconstruct the venue that hosts Zero Punctuation.

Also, http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/

Edit: Actually, I'd like to point out that to video game developers, more female gamers somehow necessarily points to "a more family-oriented demographic," which in the magical land of sub-text means that a) women don't want to play violent games, presumably something about their delicate constitution and b) women only play games when their sons/husbands are already doing it and they start to feel left out/not sexed enough.

Apparently even when former '80s Pac-Man nerds become '00s professionals, they haven't come around to the idea that women didn't talk to them because there were no showers in the arcade, rather than because they were naturally predisposed to hating video games.

  1. "The gameplay for the first few releases will allow players to sing along to Webber's music as characters from his shows, a mix stage performing and SingStar."

Apparently the tastes of adult women have somehow meshed with those of ADHD-inflicted asocial Japanese homosexuals. With brain injuries.
This is going to be the worst.

  2. Sometimes, I feel like the gaming industry makes decisions about women based on what Ms. Pac-Man would be down with.
