David Simon on the Future of Newspapers

I post this clip not only because I have an enormous man-crush on David Simon, but also because here he delivers one of the more comprehensive critiques of the current state of the American newspaper that I've seen in a long while. Or at least, outside a conversation I've had with my mom. Based on that fact alone, I would assume that Simon's represents the insider-view on a debate so often dominated by unproductive Chicken Littles on the one hand and overly optimistic web-2.0 assholes on the other.

I couldn't figure out how to post the video directly, but follow the link. The player provides the entire Democracy Now! episode, but should skip directly to the Simon bit. It's under 10 minutes long and well worth it.
